On our last Alaska port of call at the village of Skagway, we took a train ride on the White Pass & Yukon Route narrow gauge railway from dockside to the Canadian border near White Pass. The first part of the route follows the Skagway River valley until it has to circle along the valley walls, through two tunnels and a couple bridges.

- Looking ahead at the cars in front of us; Jim, Deb, Lil, Sherry & I had a car all to ourselves
- The route included portions where the space between mountain and train was measured in a few feet
- Looking up to the track ahead of us and seeing one of the several bridges on the route
- Approaching the White Pass region and the Canadian border
- Looking back to where we started
- We passed this section slowly; the old wooden section is slowly deteriorating.
- Metal and wood sections of the retired bridge.
- As we got higher, the mountainside got whiter and whiter
