With November 2018 being colder than a witch’s xxx, we have stayed indoors and did crosswords. When we run out of the Sunday crossword from the local paper (KJ), we go to the archive (hardcopy anthologies of New York Times crosswords) and do the following. Using a drawing app on my Ipad, we draw the puzzle. Then we solve it. Each day gets a color code assigned (hah, never has a NYT crossword been solved in one day!). The bright red letters are answers derived from the interweb (hah! Never has a New York Times crossword been solved without the crimson letters!). This is one of the rare ones where we managed to fill in every square.

First snow 2018-19
We picked up about four inches of snow for the first batch of the 2018-2019 season yesterday (Friday). On Thursday we set the lowest temperature in history of November for central Maine (it was forecast to be 10F but by the time I hit the road for work, it was 14F on at least one thermo-meter).
This shot of cold air was helpful since it got the ground frozen enough to limit any snow plow damage to driveway and yard. Typically any early season snow comes with a luke warm ground temperature which allows mud and environmental carnage to our various surfaces.
