Meet the buffleheads of Poggy Bay
During our extended end of year weekend visit to CT, we found the usual variety of unexpected bird life during our walks around the island.

We found bufflehead ducks in abundance on Poggy Bay. This also occurred last winter. They go somewhere else during the summer. The mallards are almost everywhere, all year long and in every body of water around here. This one, image left, was alone on Poggy Bay. The black ducks (right image) were on the great marsh out behind Kimmie Ross’ house. We have a lucky photo of a red-shouldered hawk (in a later post) and probably a hooded merganser from over near the Enders Island, ID to be confirmed.
