The steady rain during spring has tapered off to sometime showers in the summer. This is the snow machine trail this weekend. The foliage has been growing steadily and the backwoods is filled with healthy plants. The bog, to the left in this image, has lost a great deal of water since springtime.
The stream near our house is now bone dry. The southern part of Maine is listed as being in drought now. It remains to be seen if the foliage starts showing any drought effects.


Later in the afternoon last Friday after we left for a weekend in the northern Maine wilderness (more on this in a later post), our security service detected intruders, in broad daylight in our driveway. We have always thought this happened only at night (see below). Our row of hostas, shown in the foreground between camera and insurgent has already been attacked this year.
