On our latest recon over to the beaver’s work site, we found more large trees in various states of ”processing.” The first image shows a meticulously de-barked trunk with the branches carefully left intact. In the center here are the curious trunk sectioned into about three-foot lengths. These were found on our first visit (see previous post) and it is interesting that they remain here. Still no explanation of where or what they will be used. On the right is a closeup of one of the small ”specialty” work products. The beavers seem to debark all their work items but are not using the large diameter trunks for anything else (for example, none appear to be used in their dams) but the bark. Then we look at the smaller diameter trunks which may or may not be de-barked but also are not used anywhere that we can find.
