Christmas ice remains factor
[Originally created 28-Dec but a slow internet connection – electrons apparently do not travel very fast through ice – frustrated my timing] After five days of ice, we still have, ice. We have had two days of moderating temperatures during this time but only to a high of 35F or so. A three-inch snow storm on Thursday seems to just add, well, icing, to the icing.
Image-one shows the west side of our road yesterday [Fri]. It doesn’t seem any significant melting occurred. We went for a short patrol onto the old railway trail and encountered multiple collapsed, bent-over branches. What was more important to consider was the slow but continuous falling ice and the occasional branch; the last image shows the path through another part of the forest and it was blocked solidly. On the ground, the fresh snowfall highlights the multitude of creatures frequenting the woods.
