Along the rail trail that is our property border we found this vertical stake in the mid-trail. I searched the overhead canopy to see the source but couldn’t find anything obvious. It is either a branch or the tip of a good-sized tree. We are not yet sure.

The path continues beyond this stake but it is overgrown and awaiting some clearing. Our neighbor’s house is beyond and we have not been walking much past this point to allow them some privacy.
