During a walk along the Woodbury pond (Maine) shoreline, we were surprised to find this heron taking a rest in front of us. It ignored my presence and, more importantly, the presence of Kayla the rambunctious anything-that-moves investigator. She seemed to notice it was there and remained calm the entire time we sat there. We actually got up and left the bird there, something that is rarer than rare.
