Into the woods at hunting season
After several weeks of deer hunting season, there has been activity in the woods. Our neighbor reported last Sunday that two separate hunters shot deer nearby AND couldn’t find them. We heard a big boom around noon on Saturday. Apparently the hunter aimed at a buck and hit him. Upon getting to the spot where the deer should have been laying, he found blood and snow, but no animal. So, you know what the blogdog and I will be on the lookout for in the coming weeks.
At left is a view of the most interesting tree stumps in the upper bog.
Does anyone recognize this poop?
The small storm of last week missed us for the most part. It was a full mixture of precipitation but had nothing extreme (north and east of us got Buffalo-like snow accumulations). Mysteriously, there are a number of seemingly randomly placed trees which suffered maximum degradation. Here is one crossing the snow machine trail.
