Walking around Woodbound Inn

scarlet tanager

During a walk in the woods across from the Inn, we caught this tanager in the middle of the forest

loons on lake

By Sunday of the cold and partly rainy Memorial weekend, a pair of loons occupied the center of the lake in front of us for hours. I used the opportunity to test out my 150-600mm telephoto lens by Tamron.

Monadnock summit closeup

During a period when Monadnock was visible, I aimed the 600mm lens at the summit. It appeared as though hundreds of people were on or near the summit.

Mallard at woodbound inn

A mallard spent his afternoons every day in the flooded section of the lake below one of the cabins. I have never seen the lake as high as it was this weekend.

Near Ketchikan scenery image

Leaving Ketchikan, to the west is Prince of Wales island; here we look to the east and see Alaska in the foreground and British Columbia in the background

We have published some pictures from our recent cruise along Alaska’s inside passage. Our first days involved leaving Seattle and heading out the Strait of Juan De Fuca into the Pacific. In a day and a half, we arrived in Ketchikan, Alaska. See the pictures here or select the “Alaska1” tab above.
