The lady slipper orchid usually blooms in our area in mid-May. The record number is 21 or so in the 100+ acres around our house. This year I have seen 2, and they just blossomed this week.
We have had a cold and rainy Spring. I thought global warming would give us more plants as the years progress.
As mentioned previously, I was presented with an extraordinary show by a Connecticut osprey last weekend. This bird showed up about 7pm as the sun set behind me. He made multiple passes over the inlet between Enders Island and the MI Yacht Club searching for a fish dinner. He actually dove three times right in front of me over five-ten minutes, coming up with nothing each time!
