This week, in Maine, we ventured down to Woodbury Pond to check out the ice conditions (we try to assess when “ice out” will occur : when the ice disappears for the season from the lakes and ponds).
We were impressed that a family of goldeneye marsh ducks were cruising along and enjoying early spring in Maine.
Many turtles were hanging around the rocks on the north end of the Ice Pond (CT) during our visits in March. There was lots of slime and algae in the water. The turtles did not seem to mind.
