Reciprocity failure on the back deck
Yes, we were not impressed with the latest super moon but we did try to take its picture.
This is from the back deck through our local forest cordon to the east. It is a lousy attempt. I have excuses. It was dark (duh!) and cold. I was using my newest lens: a Tamron 150-600mm telephoto zoom: for the first time (more or less). I was dealing with an age-old problem of low-light photography: the idea of RECIPROCITY FAILURE. In low light, the rules regarding the inverse relationship of lens opening size (aperture) to shutter speed break down. I could not use the automated exposure settings on my digital computer of a camera to appropriately capture this moon.
Maybe next time I will remember. Or, maybe not.
