Waiting for the hummingbirds
During the past weekend we planned to get some pictures of hummingbirds. We put out a hummingbird feeder and also had hostas in bloom. We have noticed that once the bees showed up around the hostas, the hummingbird may show up.
There was a fifteen second visit by the one local hummingbird that we know of and that was all. So, you get to see bees (see left) and butterflies (below) instead. The bees were around all day. The butterflies showed up briefly on Sunday.
Just to allow us some excitement, we saw a bee attacking the butterfly (see the third image, below); The bee is in front of the butterfly; you can just make out his rear end:

Lots of hummingbird activity here at 4 Anchor over the past couple of months. I had to go to two feeders…
I was inspired by your set-up and especially the almost continuous queue of birds using it; I had a milestone achievement this morning when our neighborhood hummingbird showed up and drank. It was a fifteen second sortie with no camera but progress!
