While in MYS this weekend, there were a number of birds on the pond around noon, but I did not get a picture of them (perhaps ten Canada geese, a couple herons, an egret, at the very least). When I had a chance to get down to the pond, there was a magnificent heron standing on a nearby rock – but he was sensitive to our approach and flew off. While maneuvering to get this image of the egret, two or three herons burst out of the tree tops above us and flew away.
The second image is from a small pond adjacent to the Jamie Pond wildlife sanctuary in Manchester ME and is on my primary route to work. A very comforting and pleasant part of the daily journey – unless there is a Mainiac on my bumper.
