Adventures in the woods after the last storm: plenty of snow scenes; plenty of animal tracks. We found a carved out “foxhole” near the trail where a deer created a bed to overnight in near the beaver bog. Looking closely, one can see hoof marks on the edges from the digging; there is a confluence of tracks adjacent to the site which may be an indicator of several animals or how busy this one deer was around its camp.
The last image in this post shows a deer (perhaps?) track with the streaks made by hoof tips dragged along the surface between steps. The three-pronged hooves give me pause as to identification.
