More National Aquarium

We go back to the National Aquarium for today’s post: while we took over a hundred shots, very few of the fish in the water subjects came out due to low lighting conditions (I refrained from using flash) and the fish just wouldn’t stay still. Lucky for the imaging department, the Australian outback exhibit had plenty of birds out in the open (or constrained by netting) and here are a couple that stayed relatively still. Someday we may figure out what kind they are but we didn’t bother with detail since we were on vacation. You can get a flavor of what they have on site from the link above.
The first image is from a large poster near the aquarium entrance; they had many of these quite expressive and large visuals throughout. The fellow to the left here is probably a parrot; even with the birds, getting a bird and the photographer’s grip to remain still at the same time was a challenge (as a careful look at the next image shows).
There were numerous exhibits of other creatures,: frogs, lizards, and turtles with long, snake-like necks (I think they were called “snake-neck turtles” or something like that). It was quite crowded (a mid-Spring Sunday, mid-afternoon) and getting a look at everything was difficult because of the crowds. The number of animals out in the open in the Australian outback setting was astounding.
