Around the neighborhood

Beginning of the bird sanctuary trail

This week is a vacation week for the most part; the blogdogs get to explore more of the neighborhood. We went to a little known but nicely maintained bird sanctuary on the other side of the pond and spent a pleasant 2 mile hike. Later, at the nearby town beach – now closed for the season – we found birds; a solitary heron went up and down a rocky section of the shoreline doing who-knows-what. Meanwhile, a couple loons cruised around about 50 -100 yards off shore, occasionally diving for minutes at a time, but maintaining a distance that made for exasperating photography.
