Beaver dam at bridge echo
The previously reported production on the east side of the beaver bog is even more impressive this week. This is a complex image that may be too “busy” to reveal the reality of this dam. We will try to describe:
The dam is four or five feet high and deep, and thirty feet wide, spanning the modest valley that hosts this primary water source to the bog area.
The water backed up by the dam is in the background in this image. The reflection of the surrounding woodland makes it difficult to see this water.
The blue in the foreground is the sky reflected on the down stream.
Once the dam is in place and has created a new mini pond, the next steps is to build a residence for the winter. We have not seen any evidence of this nor any spot suggesting a proposed location. It also remains to be seen if an unknown third party breaks up the dam, which occurred earlier this year.
