Beaver swamp recon
We went tromping into the backwoods today toward the east beyond the beaver bog to the swampy area next to the snow machine trail, which I call the beaver swamp (there may even be a beaver or two still back there but the evidence is now old). The water is almost entirely covered by duckweed (the green stuff). On the way we caught an old tree in the mid-day light in a mostly shadowed logging cut.
We also found some destruction on the trail. A bridge that spanned the creek that feeds the beaver bog has been torn up (below). I think it is the work of my southern neighbor who has it out for the local machiniacs who cruise the snow machine trails on their ATVs, destroying the land and breaking the peace.
