Beaverbog stream dam

Les grande vacances (day # 55) Mother’s Day 2020; a view of one of the beaver dams on the inlet stream to the beaverbog in the back woods. The beavers have patched up the dam in the last few weeks. The dam is quite effective since the water level behind it is at the dam’s height. This height is enough to flood the trail bridge (bridge echo) behind it, preventing us from going further east on the snowmachine trail.
As long as we keep getting steady rain, the water level will remain high enough to prevent us from proceeding along the trail. The good news is that rainfall rates should diminish and the growing forest greenery will begin soaking up more and more water.
Along this stream, we have seen wood ducks and at least one beaver on repeated occasions.
