blodog meets a porcupine
While on patrol last Sunday we found porcupines (a mom and kid). The mother shuffled around and eventually climbed a tree not far away from us. The youngster stayed in the background and was ignored by the mother. By the time we passed by the spot on the return part of our journey, the mother porcupine was way up in a tree, apparently sleeping (this is what they do during the day as a routine). It is not routine for us to see them, either on the ground or in the trees.
It has been several years since the blogdog investigated a porcupine that wandered into our yard. I pulled almost twenty quills from his nose and mouth with pliers that day.
Near the house, a younger, smaller pileated woodpecker, as compared to the one we saw over by the bog last week, showed up Sunday afternoon. This was the closest I could get.

Most of all i loved the colors and the fitting of the scene. What a talent you are.
