From our recent Alaska trip, here we are in an Aerospatiale helicopter approaching the Mendenhall glacier northeast of Juneau. I am working on the Part 2 photo essay for the trip (from Ketchikan to Juneau).
Our tour group consisted of four choppers, we were in No. 3 and you can see the first two ahead of us in this photo just left of center.
During a walk in the woods across from the Inn, we caught this tanager in the middle of the forest
By Sunday of the cold and partly rainy Memorial weekend, a pair of loons occupied the center of the lake in front of us for hours. I used the opportunity to test out my 150-600mm telephoto lens by Tamron.
During a period when Monadnock was visible, I aimed the 600mm lens at the summit. It appeared as though hundreds of people were on or near the summit.
A mallard spent his afternoons every day in the flooded section of the lake below one of the cabins. I have never seen the lake as high as it was this weekend.
