Trekking

johngregsite Posted on 19-Feb-2017 by john19-Feb-2017

D81_4844__170206Before our recent flurry of snow every other day, we returned to the far bog and got pictures of the beaver’s work. This one is a favorite because they started on the tree years ago and abandoned it. Then last year they completed the take-down but have not done anything with their work product.

The tracks around it are probably deer. I think the beavers are hibernating (will have to look this up). There is no evidence of activity around their lodge.

We managed to get out today on the trail. I was prepared with snow shoes to go off track but Murphy found the 24-30 inches of snow tough to manage. He liked following deer and squirrel tracks but he found the packed down snow machine trail more to his liking.

I had to make a path with the snow shoes to get him to follow me to the bog’s edge.

sam201702160170zImages on day-10 after five storms where over half a winter season of snow has fallen.

Image two shows the horizontally expanding “Mt. Wally” between the garage on the right and the house to the left.

About a month and a half of winter weather to go.

We have had only one year where the edge of Mt. Wally crept to the edge of the garage door shown. There is capacity left. We have never had to hire anyone for snow removal.
