November has started with little rain (0.1 inch as of today). This compares to August with almost 10 inches! And October with 3+ inches.
The shoot-deer-with-guns season has started and this causes us to monitor who might be in the nearby woods and when. Our walk down to the pond is not a problem. Even though the shoreline area where we walk has evidence of many deer passages, there are houses nearby and a state road bordering it. This layout seems to prevent visitations from the hunters (although we can’t discount the possibility that one of these neighbors will shoot at deer from an open bedroom window or deck!).
We venture out to the hundred-acre-wood only when there are no cars parked along the road and usually we go around lunch time (hunters prefer hunting at dawn or dusk when they assume deer are moving about). I wear bright orange although I think this makes me a better target for some of these dudes.
