End of winter 2019-2020

The last day of winter at the outlet stream of the beaverbog. We are still mostly ice on the bigger ponds. The streams are flowing strongly. Rain has been a regular weekly event. Above image foreground is the rocky section where the beavers created the primary dam that created the bog about twenty five years ago. The open space in the background was forested before then.
As reported earlier, the beavers have already ramped up operations and begun additional development along the primary input stream to the bog. At left is another example of the work being done. It appears they will be cutting up this trunk into smaller sections.
An examination of the four dams along this stream show no sign of new material or wood yet the number of trees that have been harvested just these recent months is too numerous to count. My search for their den continues.
