Great birding weekend
We had a great weekend taking pictures of birds:
This bluejay appeared at the upper bog just after I caught a robin and a cardinal (see below).
While crossing the bog on the trail, I spotted the robin perched atop a tall narrow dead tree trunk about a hundred yards away. I took his picture with a prayer and as steady as I could hold the camera. As you can see, it came out acceptable. As the robin departed, a cardinal stopped in trees just to the right of the robin.
Hoping this was a sign that other birds would show up, we then proceeded to go over to the spot where the robin was (of course, he was long gone). The plan was to wait thirty minutes to see if anyone else showed up.
About twenty-five minutes later, the cardinal re-appeared. Because we positioned ourselves closer, he was only thirty yards away. Then, the bluejay surprised us but got himself pictured anyway. Patience, preparation, and luck works again …
On Sunday, we caught some more noticeable birds when we visited the local conservation land bog. We will post those tomorrow.
