Great great egrets weekend
For the weekend visit, we encountered at various times of day during our walks, despite some rain and high humidity (there is a slight difference), great egrets at various sites. On Sunday during a walk with Tommy to almost Enders Isl., we encountered one by the yacht club parking lot. Then when we ventured over to the Poggy Bay marina, we spied this fellow from Skiff Lane.
During the five minutes it took to walk around to the marina, he was still there; as I attempted to creep closer to him, he dove his head into the water – I think to catch a minnow or two. This image (below) was just before he did that. He must have been perturbed by my presence since he then went airborne heading for the Sound. Over the bay, he turned and flew back right over my head.
