History re-created

On a brief visit to the riverside in Bath, Maine, today. I found the dock where the full replica of the first ship built in North America is currently berthed. This is the Virginia. It is a painstakingly detailed re-construction of the boat built at the Popham Colony at the mouth of the Kennebec River in 1607. The Colony was, I think, the second European settlement in North America (assuming Jamestown was the first and ignoring the suggestions that the Vikings or Norwegians also built settlements).
It was constructed to support the evacuation of the colony due to starvation. After landing in 1605, they survived a Maine winter or two with help from the local Indian inhabitants. At some point, the Indians stopped sharing food. I have not bothered to read the details and rather go with the conspiracy theories available, you know, like what we do now when pressured for facts to support what is going on.
