Hunting Recon briefing

Recap: at the close of full metal jacket deer hunting season (2016), we ventured out and located a suspected hunting camp in the back woods; upon locating said camp, we planned and executed a detailed recon last weekend. We circled around the back side of the tent to check on any associated tree stands and found none. After confirming no combatants were nearby, a security perimeter was set up (see second image) as the photo team crept up the hillside to about 50 yards. With our new 150-600mm telephoto zoom lens, we got the image above.

Our recon indicates the hunters did not have a nearby tree stand and were not necessarily wandering around and setting adhoc temporary shooting zones. They were sitting in the tent and waiting for targets to wander by and shooting at them through holes in the tent’s netting.
