Into May 2020

Day #47 of our version of the Corona-demic; we awoke with no power. Apparently a racoon ate some stuff at the South Monmouth sub-station. Eleven hours later, they had put up a “mobile sub-station” and power was re-stored about 3pm. Since we usually need a hurricane or Grade A winter storm to lose power for this amount of time, it is hard to believe this racoon story. I think it was the virus.
We spent the week getting vehicles inspected and maintained, one each day Wednesday to Friday. We had to park the car, complete the drop-off form, insert keys, drop envelope into slot. Drive home to await call. Pay over the phone and then pick up car parked outside with keys/paperwork sitting inside. One trip to the grocery store for muffins but no cinnamon donuts or chicken chowder soup. Toilet paper? Hah-hah! No.
Kathy did the normal grocery run but, for rice, could only get a 20 pound bag of rice, so it looks as if we are hoarding rice.
Weather continued to be colder and wetter than normal.
