After the start of the year, we had some sunny weekends that allowed some walking in the woods. The upper bog area, a smaller portion of the back forest and still part of the creek that empties the larger bog, is shown here. Like the big bog, it was fully forested when we first moved here. Our beaver colony turned it into the bog it is today.

As any bog, it supplies living material for numerous flora and fauna. Here, in the second and third pictures, one sees dead things mostly; dead in name only.
