Over at the Smithfield Plantation, Irene took down mostly the old and the tired trees. There were a few impressive falls such as the one at left (images one and three). A tall pine with a large crown (now on the ground – first image) snapped about twenty or more feet up (third image).

One of the old trees is shown in the second image and a birch sapling that now arches over trail is shown in the last image of the day.
