Kennebec R at Hallowell
This weekend we went back to the Kennebec and found it open water in Augusta and most of the way toward Gardiner, where it jams up again. Here you can see the left-over ice blocks that litter the shoreline up and down the river. Some are sizable in both surface area and depth.
The second image shows the rear of the buildings along Water st. in the background. The river flooded this area into the lower floors of these buildings about a month ago due to the ice jam.
In April, typical spring rains and snow melt will probably flood this area again.
