Last day of deer hunting
Yesterday was the last day of the standard rifle focused deer hunting in Maine; I think you can continue to hunt deer with arrows and muzzle-loaders for a while longer. One can hunt other things using a rifle, so going out into the back woods after yesterday isn’t necessarily risk free.
We went for a walk during mid-day across the street to investigate a stone wall in the middle of the forest primeval and discovered footsteps along the wall precisely along our proposed route. After going along for a small bit, we decided to turn around. I had no interest in running into the deer hunter or pass through a kill zone, if there was one. I kept the blogdog close on a shortened up leash since I did not have him suited out in an orange vest. Contrary to last weekend, we did not see any hunters.
