Lobster unusual
Delivered to the local lobster merchant, a “blue” lobster is displayed with a contemporary or traditional version. At first, we suspected this was simply the early stages of the annual shedding, which occurs about August. This is also known as the “soft-shell” season. A lobster will start creating a larger shell to grow into about this time; as this larger shell takes shape, it is sometimes more jelly-like than rigid shell and translucent.
By last Friday, this lobster was retaining its off-color, so it may actually be an albino or rare blue lobster.
