Local birding bonanza
We found a nice variety of birds while just hanging around the yard or on patrol in the backwoods these past two weeks.
We are not sure what kind the bouncing bird is but I enjoy the moment (caught by accident) of him not-in-flight.
A nuthatch (at right) in classic upside-down mode.
We think we also got a downy woodpecker (see below), this species is very similar to the hairy woodpecker in every way except for the size of their beak (smaller beaks on downys) and their general size (the downy can be called a smaller version of the hairy woodpecker).
