The time change finally happened, it seemed late this year. Here is a scene from the Smithfield Plantation (the local conservation set-aside) overlooking the bog. The relatively low sun angle enhances the shadow version of the remaining leaves.

The early fall leaves and the mid-phase leaves are mostly on the ground now. The past few days have seen the oak leaves start falling. Most of the leaves left (the ashes, I think) may not come down until spring.
