Mid-summer views
The well watered swamp and forest is the theme here-abouts. We have been getting rain almost every other day, it seems. Everything is green. The forest canopies are so thick of leaves, the forest floors are like caves where the only light leaks through the leaves; the bright sun is heavily filtered and makes for striking scenes on the trails: the two lower images here have had brightness boosted.
The first image is the beaver bog; while the water table has steadily dropped as is typical for the season, the vegetation is thriving. The other images are from the Smithfield Plantation conservation property. In one section, image no. 2, there are green leaves and shoots everywhere, the green moss covers all the dark wood and earth; the water is filled with green algae. Finally, a fifteen foot high stump acts like a obelisk with the sun highlighting its base.
