More From August in CT
The ice pond had many, many canada geese during our stay. I haven’t tried on this picture, but counting the birds at other times typically got up to fifty-plus before you thought it was double counting. When they arrived or departed, the noise level of their honking was deafening as they flew overhead.
When I took this picture, I thought a squadron of cormorants had arrived in the background center, but they were more geese.
When Murphy and I walked over to the osprey nest on Ram Point, we found at least two birds on the nest. (The previous post has the nest in psuedo-watercolor) As we were still a bit away, they left in a hurry and flew across the marsh. There they stayed during our entire twenty minute wait. I thought only two were involved but in looking at the image detail, I discovered a total of three waiting for us to leave.
