More Pond views

Last Friday on our recon to the pond we found another unique site. For the first time since moving here thirty years ago, someone has set up an ice fishing “shack” down at the pond. Generally, a Maine ice fishing shack is exactly the same as what is typically called an “outhouse” in other states. As you can see, this one is a much fancier high-cost tent straight out of LL Bean.
We were quite surprised when we saw this tent out there (and located around it are marked fishing holes where they have set lines and markers that are triggered when a fish is hooked). We have not had any day in the last two weeks that did not stay below freezing. Even more concerning was a forecast for an inch or more of rain and 40f+ temperatures the next day. The quality and strength of the ice must be marginal.
Today (Monday) when we went on our pond side recon, the tent and all the fishing holes were gone. The ice is slushy and intact, so I think they removed the tent on Sunday or this morning, and did not have it fall through the ice!
