Osprey nesting
Thom reported that an osprey family had set up housekeeping at the osprey stand on School House rd. He showed us the spot and we found an osprey sitting on the nest.
As the photog approached, Mom took off. I got almost underneath with hope of getting a photo of the chicks (we saw them in the distance but did not see them up close); we were disappointed.
It was only back at the lab did we find a baby osprey keeping an eye on us. Even with the assistance of the 300mm lens and software, the baby is still hard to spot.
During the approach, Mom made a recon pass at me; after we turned away, she promptly returned to her roost.
