A two-engine airliner looks like a rocket launch as my camera catches it flying over at sun-set this evening.

This season is the most colorful we have had in recent memory.
Herring gull? over central Maine
We caught this gull over a nearby pond and have attempted to identify. The important identifiers of beak markings, eye color, eye ring (or not), potential age, wing markings and colors, are confusing. It could be an immature herring gull according to guidebooks but I didn’t think it was a young bird. It might be a ring-billed gull but central Maine is not a typical venue.
