Plantation hike

Last weekend the blogdogs went on patrol to the local conservation land known as Smithfield Plantation. Here is a different angle on the beaver house introduced earlier this year. The beaver does not appear to be around anymore; there are no new examples of trees being processed. Nearby we spotted a fairly large turtle (see lower photo) that did not seem concerned about our presence.
As we wandered along on the Vernal Pool trail, we found a new bench which was designed for humans to sit while contemplating one of the larger pools. We found more evidence of the pine-cone-seed-eaters and can report that these are from squirrels.
