Pre-July adventures
This is the far bog. We have not reached this spot in many months. Access from the back woods is made difficult in wet and rainy seasons since my neighbor ransacked the bridge over the creek we need to cross to get to it (he seeks to prevent the ATV machiniacs and generally, everyone, from riding or walking near his house). He has a tendency to get carried away. The old railway trail goes right by his place and it is the property line between his land and ours.
This nuthatch found some food on a trunk of a dead tree in the far bog. They will creep upside down along the tree, sideways and vertically, looking for food among the wood and bark. They are not woodpeckers but basic scavengers. I have another image of a white-breasted nuthatch at here.

This is my friend the red-wing blackbird (right) that I find at the bog at the Smithfield Plantation preserve.
