The weather has complicated any outdoor activities over the past few weeks. During the last eight days ending on Friday, we did not get over 32F in temperatures, the low was Thursday morning (1F). With daylight compressed into the 7am-4pm window, getting outside during weekdays without a flashlight or boots with cleats while one is home is problematic. The flashlight is needed because the snow that has fallen is now very solid and uneven. In the normal course of a central Maine winter, we would have snow, then melt or at least several days of moderate temperatures to allow for snow management. This year, we have had plowable snow, freezing temperatures, maybe a brief thaw, then Repeat. 

These are not new issues for us but the timing is rather unusual. This is middle-of-winter mode and it started before Thanksgiving. Actually, not just in the woods, but just walking around the yard we have to be careful.

Our trail cameras continue to document the activity just beyond the forest line out back. The locals apparently have found one of the cameras.
