June 1983, Paris

In early June 1983, I landed in Paris (Orly) for a three month bicycle journey through western Europe. Here is one of my pictures from the Paris portion of my trip. This bookstore is still active and, based on an internet search, looks much as it was in 1983. It can be found on the “left bank” at 37 Rue de la Bucherie opposite Notre Dame. It has an extensive literary history – nothing I knew at the time – and has been a Paris fixture, especially for English-speaking visitors, since 1919.

A purchaser of a print of this image managed to de-frame my product, scan it, and send me the output (the original image is a kodachrome 64 slide).
