Southern man
This is the start of a series of photos from our recent visit to Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. On the road to Johnson City, Tennessee, the edge of the Appalachian mountains stretch across the horizon in our lead image. We had good weather for most of the trip and by the time we left, it was getting warm. As you can tell, the area has had ample rain and everything was green.
One of the great visuals on the trip was the great clouds they have. They are big and change shapes as you watch.
Among my interest around brother Jim and Debbie’s place was their varied bird population, especially the mocking birds. My goal was to get some in-flight shots of the mocking birds and their colorful white wing stripes (they remind me of the white striping painted on the wings and fuselages of Allied fighters during the D-day invasion in 1944).

So the third image here is the best I could do for our trip to get a mocking bird in an image file. I noticed the crow first and then loud clacking from both the crow and a suddenly excited mocking bird; I think the mocking bird nest was somewhere in the tree.
