Spring storm in February
Last evening snow began slowly at 6pm and snow, rain, sleet fell throughout the evening and concluded after midnight with only about three inches of accumulation. Temperatures at midnight was 33F and 32F at 8am this morning. Just enough to plow. The ground is in a semi-frozen state. There is some frost but the warm temperatures of this season are keeping the ground warmer than usual.
Heavy, wet snow with just enough freezing laying on top of semi-frozen tundra-soil equals Maine mousse mud season no matter what the calendar says.
