The beavers’ vs. road crew front line
This is the latest look at the snow machine bridge next to our property. The years long battle between our local beaver contingent and the town’s road maintenance crew has intensified. The beavers, inspired by Putin no doubt, have responded to the crews culvert clearing work by knocking down bigger and bigger trees, building dams upstream, and a new den appears to be in process just to the left in background shown here.
The culvert under our road, shown at right and is to the right of the bridge shown in the image above, is now graced by a grating. The beavers were damming in the culvert so the crew has added this grating. The beavers now build a dam at the grating and the road crew comes and removes the beavers work every couple weeks.
We are not sure when the beavers will stop for the winter. We are awaiting a response from the snow machine club on any repairs to their bridge.
